Reaction Steps

In DMF (4 ml) was dissolved N-[4-(morpholinomethyl)-phenyl]-7-phenyl-3,4-dihydronaphthalene-2-carboxamide (450 mg), and to the mixture was added methyl iodide (198 μl). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was recrystallized from ethyl acetate to give 4-methyl-4-[4-(7-phenyl-3,4-dihydronaphthalene-2-carboxamido)benzyl]morpholinium iodide (Compound 12) (575 mg) as pale yellow crystals.
