Reaction Steps

To a solution of N-[4-(1-piperidinylmethyl)phenyl]-6-(4-methylphenyl)-2H-1-benzopyran-3-carboxamide (200 mg) in DMF (3 ml) was added methyl iodide (0.1 ml) at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred for 20 hours. To the mixture was added ethyl acetate. Precipitated crystal was collected by filtration and recrystallized from chloroform-ethanol to give 1-[4-[N-[6-(4-methylphenyl)-2H-1-benzopyran-3-carbonyl]-amino]benzyl]-1-methyl-piperidinium iodide (Compound 198) (188 mg) as yellow crystals.
