Reaction Steps
Using the procedure of Example 3, 2.7 g of (1R,trans) 2,2-dimethyl-3-[(E)-3-methoxy-3-oxo-1-propenyl]-cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid chloride in benzene and 1 ml of isopropanol were reacted to obtain 1.7 g of isopropyl (1R,trans) 2,2-dimethyl-3-[(E)-3-methoxy-3-oxo-1-propenyl]-cyclopropane-1-carboxylate with a specific rotation of [α]D20 =+84° (c=1.25% in chloroform).
