Using the procedure of Example 3, 1.51 g of (1R,cis) 2,2-dimethyl-3-[(E)-3-methoxy-3-oxo-1-propenyl]-cyclopropane -1-carboxylic acid chloride in benzene and 0.61 ml of isopropanol were reacted to obtain 0.820 g of isopropyl (1R,cis) 2,2-dimethyl-3-[(E)-3-methoxy-3-oxo-1-propenyl]-cyclopropane-1-carboxylate with a specific rotation of [α]D20 =-28°±1.5°(c=1% in chloroform).
