Procedure
A mixture of 218 parts of 3-(N-ethyl-N-β-hydroxyethylamino)-hydrocinnamonitrile, 100 parts by volume of glacial acetic acid and 115 parts by volume of acetic anhydride was heated under reflux for 4 hours. At the end of the reaction, easily followed by chromatography on thin layers of silica, the product was neutralized with sodium carbonate and 200 parts were decanted of 3-(N-ethyl-N-β-acetoxyethyl-amino)-hydrocinnamonitrile of the formula: ##STR13## in the form of an oil which boiled at 192° C. under 20 mm of mercury.
