Procedure
1 g (4.4 mMole) of 4-(p-chlorobenzoyl)-oxazolidin-2-one is dissolved in 50 ml of ethanol, followed by the addition in portions at room temperature of 300 mg (8.0 mMole) of sodium borohydride. After 1 hour, a saturated NH4Cl-solution is added to the reaction solution which is then repeatedly extracted with chloroform. The combined organic phases are dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated. The yellow oil is taken up in ether/hexane. The crystals formed are filtered off under suction.
