Procedure
A portion of dihydro 1-hydroxy-7-trifluoromethyl-β-carboline (6 mg) in xylenes (1 ml) was treated with Pd/C (10%, 7 mg) and the mixture heated at 50° C. for one week. The reaction was concentrated after filtering it through celite, and the residue was chromatographed (1:1 hexane-ethyl acetate) on silica gel to give 1 mg of 1-hydroxy-7-trifluoromethyl-β-carboline.
