Procedure

To a solution of ethyl 4,6-dichloropyridazine-3-carboxylate (747 mg, 3.38 mmol) in acetonitrile (11.3 mL) was added 6-isopropyl-5-methoxypyridin-2-amine (562 mg, 3.38 mmol) and heated to 80° C. for 20 h. The mixture was cooled and concentrated in vacuo. Purification by chromatography (silica, 10 to 50% ethyl acetate in hexanes) gave ethyl 6-chloro-4-(6-isopropyl-5-methoxypyridin-2-ylamino)pyridazine-3-carboxylate (438 mg, 1.25 mmol, 37%) as a yellow solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CHLOROFORM-d6) δ ppm 10.61 (s, 1H), 9.15 (s, 1H), 7.22 (d, J=8.7 Hz, 1H), 6.61 (d, J=8.7 Hz, 1H), 4.57 (q, J=7.6 Hz, 2H), 3.88 (s, 3H), 3.53 (m, 1H), 1.53 (t, J=7.0 Hz, 3H), 1.31 (d, J=6.7 Hz, 6H); MS (EI/CI) m/z: 351.0 [M+H].
