To a solution of carbonothioate 74 (351 mg, 0.55 mmol) in ice-cold CH2Cl2 (3 mL) was added sulfuryl chloride (67 μL, 0.83 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 3 h, after which the mixture was concentrated to dryness, providing chloroformate 75 as a colorless gum (334 mg, quant.) which was used directly in the next step: 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 1.44 (s, 27H), 1.94-1.98 (m, 6H), 2.21-2.24 (m, 6H), 2.46 (t, J=6.6 Hz, 2H), 2.74 (t, J=6.6 Hz, 2H), 5.83 (s, 2H), 6.15 (s, 1H).
