3-(indolin-1-ylsulfonyl)benzoic acid (3) (200 mg, 0.66 mmol) and 1-(3-aminophenyl)ethanol (75 mg, 0.55 mmol) using method C. The residue was purified using flash chromatography eluting with 0-50% EtOAc in hexanes. The resulting solid was triturated with dichloromethane/hexanes to give N-(3-(1-hydroxyethyl)phenyl)-3-(indolin-1-ylsulfonyl)benzamide as an off-white solid. Yield: 93 mg (40%). 1H-NMR: 10.46 (s, 1H), 8.37 (s, 1H), 8.25 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.98 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.74-7.69 (m, 2H), 7.64 (d, J=8.5 Hz, 1H), 7.51 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.29 (t, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.21 (t, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.16 (d, J=7.5 Hz, 1H), 7.09 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 6.99 (dt, J=7.5, 7.5, 1.0 Hz, 1H), 5.19 (d, J=4.0 Hz, 1H), 4.75-4.68 (m, 1H), 3.98 (t, J=8.5 Hz, 2H), 2.93 (t, J=8.5 Hz, 2H), 1.32 (d, J=6.0 Hz, 3H).
