A suspension of 3-{2-[(2,4-dichlorophenyl)(hydroxy)methyl]-7-(diethylamino)-1H-benzimidazol-1-yl}propan-1-ol (1.18 g, 2.7.9 mmol) and manganese dioxide (2.43 g, 27.9 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (14 mL) was stirred for 1.5 h at room temperature. The reaction mixture was filtrated and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to afford the desired product as a yellow solid (1.16 g, 2.76 mmol, 99%).
