To a solution of 1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-N,N-dimethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimido[1,2-a]benzimidazole-6-carboxamide (200 mg, 0.513 mmol) was added boron-tetrahydrofuran complex (1.0 M solution in tetrahydrofuran, 2.6 mL, 2.6 mmol), and the mixture was stirred at 70° C. for 13 hr. To the mixture was added aqueous saturated ammonium chloride, and the mixture was stirred at 70° C. for 20 min. The mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel eluting with a 50-100% ethyl acetate/n-hexane gradient mixture. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give the solid, which was washed with diisopropyl ether to give the title compound as a colorless powder (54.8 mg, 0.146 mmol, 28%).
