Procedure

This compound is prepared according to general method D from methyl 2-(6-oxo-2-(piperidin-1-yl)-4-p-tolyl-1,6-dihydropyrimidin-5-yl)pentanoate (1 eq), sodium hydroxide 10N (10 eq) in methanol (6 mL/mmol) at 60° C. for 18 h. The reaction mixture is concentrated under reduced pressure, the residue is dissolved in water and extracted with diethyl ether. The pH of the aqueous layer is adjusted between 2 and 3 by addition of a solution of hydrochloric acid 6N. The suspension is extracted twice with ethyl acetate and the combined organic layers are dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to yield the title compound.
