To a suspension of ethyl 2-carbamothioylnicotinate (1.9 g, 9.04 mmol) in 20 ml of DMF 4-fluorophenacylbromide (2.0 g, 9.22 mmol) was added, and the resulting mixture stirred for 2 hours at room temperature. The mixture was filtered under suction, the mother liquor evaporated to dryness, and the remaining oil purified by chromatography on silica gel (eluent: CH2Cl2+0-5% methanol) to give 434 mg of the title compound as amorphous solid.
