By a procedure similar to that of example 1.85.3, starting from 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)propan-1-one, (Z)-ethyl 5-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(4-fluorophenyl)pent-2-enoate and (E)-ethyl 5-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(4-fluorophenyl)pent-2-enoate were obtained as colourless oils.
