Reaction Steps
To a solution of (S)-methyl 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-(2-methylpiperazin-1-yl)quinoxaline-6-carboxylate (160 mg, 0.42 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (30 mL) was added potassium carbonate (174 mg, 1.26 mmol) and CH3CH2I (68.8 mg, 0.44 mmol), and the reaction was stirred overnight at room temperature. The reaction solution was diluted with water (150 mL), extracted with dichloromethane (3×30 mL), and the organic layers combined, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (1% methanol in dichloromethane) to afford (S)-methyl 3-(4-ethyl-2-methylpiperazin-1-yl)-2-(4-fluorophenyl)quinoxaline-6-carboxylate as light yellow oil (80 mg, crude).
