Reaction Steps
4 g of rifaximin was dissolved in 60 ml of ethanol at 25-30° C. The reaction mass was heated to 35° C. and 8 g of β-cyclodextrin was added to the rifaximin solution and stirred. The reaction mass was concentrated under vacuum at 35° C. till dryness and then dried completely at 30-35° C. for 24 hours to get 10.7 g rifaximin-β cyclodextrin complex.
