To 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-2,3-dihydrobenzo[b][1,4]dioxine-6-carbonitrile (200 mg) were added concentrated sulfuric acid (2 mL) and water (0.3 mL) at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred at 40° C. for 3 hr, water was added and the mixture was stirred for 40 min at room temperature. The resulting solid was collected by filtration, washed with purified water, and dried under reduced pressure to give the title compound (190.6 mg).
