A mixture of 7-benzyl-1-cyano-4-hydroxy-8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-[2,7]naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (27 mg, 0.081 mmol) and cyclopropylamine (0.060 mL, 0.81 mmol) in 2 mL of EtOH was heated in a sealed tube at 80° C. for 4 h. After cooling to r.t., water (3 mL) were added. The mixture was extracted with EtOAc. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated. The crude product was chromatographed (0-15% EtOAc/CH2Cl2) to give 18 mg of the title compound as a white solid. MS: (−) m/z 358.99 (M−1).
