A mixture of 7-benzyl-1-cyano-4-hydroxy-8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-[2,7]naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (35 mg, 0.104 mmol) and 4-(aminomethyl)-pyridine (0.040 mL, 0.366 mmol) in 2 mL of EtOH was refluxed for 16 h. Acetic acid (0.1 mL) and water (3 mL) were added, and the mixture was allowed to come to r.t. The resulting precipitate was filtered, washed with 5 mL of water/MeOH (1:1), and dried under high vacuum to afford 15 mg of the title compound as a gray solid. MS: (+) m/z 412.20 (M+1).
