A mixture of 7-benzyl-4-hydroxy-8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-[2,7]naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (25 mg, 0.081 mmol), N-(2-amino-ethyl)-N-methyl-methanesulfonamide HCl salt (61 mg, 0.32 mmol), and NaOMe (17 mg, 0.32 mmol) in EtOH (2 mL) was heated at 140° C. for 6 h in a microwave reactor. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo, and the residue was partitioned between EtOAc and 0.1 M HCl. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated. The crude product was purified by silica gel chromatography (0-5% MeOH/CH2Cl2) to give 22 mg of the title compound as an off-white solid. MS: (+) m/z 431.28 (M+1).
