A mixture of 1-benzyl-5-hydroxy-2-oxo-3-phenyl-1,2-dihydro-[1,7]naphthyridine-6-carboxylic acid methyl ester (25 mg, 0.065 mmol), N-(2-amino-ethyl)-N-methyl-methanesulfonamide HCl salt (49 mg, 0.26 mmol), and NaOMe (14 mg, 0.26 mmol) in EtOH (3 mL) was heated at 140° C. for 6 h in a microwave reactor. Solvent was evaporated in vacuo, and the residue was partitioned between EtOAc and 0.1 M HCl. The aqueous layer was extracted with additional EtOAc, and the organic layers were combined and dried over MgSO4. After evaporating the solvent, the residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (0-3% MeOH/CH2Cl2) to give 11.4 mg of the title compound as a light yellow solid. MS: (+) m/z 507.36 (M+1).
