Reaction Steps

tert-Butyl 3-(aminomethyl)azetidine-1-carboxylate (1.10 g, 5.91 mmol) was dissolved in methylene chloride (50 mL). Thereafter, 4-nitrophenyl chloroformate (1.19 g, 5.91 mmol) and pyridine (0.47 g, 5.91 mmol) were added to the above obtained solution, and the thus obtained mixture was then stirred for 16 hours. Thereafter, the reaction solution was concentrated in vacuo to obtain tert-butyl 3-((((4-nitrophenoxy)carbonyl)amino)methyl)azetidine-1-carboxylate (2.52 g, >100%) in the form of a white solid.
