PROCEDURE

A mixture of 176a (200 mg, 0.31 mmol), NaBH4 (47 mg, 1.20), and methanol (10 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The reaction mixture was then quenched with water (10 mL) and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was extracted with dichloromethane (2×10 mL). The combined dichloromethane extract was concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified with reverse-phase prep-HPLC to afford 176 (42 mg, 28%).
