To a mixture of 4′-{[4-(4-hydroxycyclohexyl)-2-methyl-5-oxo-7-propyl-4,5-dihydro[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-6-yl]methyl}biphenyl-2-carbonitrile (1.2 g), rhodium(I) acetate (0.055 g) and toluene (40 mL) was added dropwise ethyl diazoacetate (1.2 mL) at 80° C., and the mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 1 hr. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the obtained residue was subjected to silica gel column chromatography to give the title compound as a colorless solid (1.1 g, 76%).
