Procedure

The starting material 3-methyl-tridecanedioic acid (m.p.68.5°-69.5° C.) is prepared, under the conditions described in Example 1 for the preparation of 3-methyldodecanedioic acid, from azelaic acid ethyl ester chloride and dimethylacrylic acid ethyl ester.
