To 3.40 g of 10-chloro- 3a,4,13,13a-tetrahydro-2-methyl- 1H,6H-pyrrolo[3',4':4,5]pyrido[1,2-c] [1,3,5]benzoxadiazepine-1,3(2H)dione in 25 ml of dry chloroform is added, dropwise, and with external wet ice cooling, 10.0 ml of a 1.05 N ethereal hydrogen chloride solution to obtain the title compound.
