The product (20.0 g) from step (f) was dissolved in dichioromethane (170 ml) and treated with chlorosulfonic acid (26.8 g). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 17 hours. A major part of the solvent was removed by distillation and the resulting slurry was diluted with acetone, filtered and dried to get a white solid. 1H NMR consistent with the proposed structure.
