Procedure

In 20 ml of water was suspended 3.1 g of the (-)-3-[4-[3-(4-amidinophenoxy)propyl]-2,3-dioxopiperazin-1-yl]-3-(pyridin-3-yl)propionic acid obtained in Example 57, and the suspension was heated to obtain a homogeneous solution. This solution was allowed to stand overnight at room temperature, after which the crystals precipitated were collected by filtration, washed with 3 ml of water, and then dried at room temperature to obtain 2.58 g of (-)-3-[4-[3-(4-amidinophenoxy) propyl]-2,3-dioxopiperazin-1-yl]-3-(pyridin-3-yl) propionic acid trihydrate as colorless crystals having a melting point of 238°-240° C. (decomp.).
