The title compound was prepared by the procedure described in Example 6 using 11.2 g of 2-[3-(2-tolyl)-thioureido]-acetamide and 15.6 g of ethyl iodide. Crystallization from ethyl acetate afforded the hydrochloride salt of the title compound as a white solid (6.8 g), m.p. 156°-158° C. (dec.). Anal. Calcd. for. C12H14N2O S . HCl: C, 53.23; H, 5.58; N, 10.34. Found: C, 52.96; H, 5.49; N, 10.25. Mass spectrum (EI, M.+) m/z 234. 1H-NMR (DMSO-d6 ; 400 MHz) 88.75 (broad s, 2 H), 7.43 (m, 2 H), 7.35 (m, 1 H), 7.30 (m, 1 H), 4.53 (q, 2 H), 3.18-3.20 (m, 2 H), and 1.29 ppm (t, 3 H).
