Reaction Steps
About 29.6 mg of sodium hydride was added to a solution comprising about 250 mg of compound 4a in about 20 ml of anhydrous DMF at 0° C. under nitrogen. The solution was stirred for 30 minutes and about 1.22 g of chlorosulfonamide was slowly added in one portion. The solution was then stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. The mixture was poured into a cold saturated sodium bicarbonate solution and the resulting solution was extracted with methylene chloride (3×50 ml). The organic layer was separated, dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated under reduced pressure to give a light yellow oil (5a) (183 mg 61.2%).
