Procedure

1 equivalent of the compound obtained in Example 12 is stirred, at ambient temperature, into a solution of sodium methanolate. After 12 hours' reaction, the reaction mixture is concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue is taken up in dichloromethane; the organic phase is then washed with a saturated NaCl solution, dried over sodium sulphate and then concentrated under reduced pressure. Chromatography on silica gel (dichloromethane) allows the expected product to be isolated.
