Reaction Steps
See FIG. 3A. A mixture of 6-nitrobenzothiazole (1 g) and methyl-p-toluenesulfonate (1.2 g) was heated to 140° C. for 20 min. The solid was washed with acetone and filtered to provide a bluish solid (1.1 g).
