Reaction Steps

Wet 5% Pd/C (400 mg) was added to a solution of 4-benzyl 3-tert-butyl (4R)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-oxazepane-3,4-dicarboxylate (Preparation 49, 2.5 g, 6.87 mmol) in 50% EtOH in THF (100 mL) and stirred for 4 hours at room temperature under an H2 balloon. The reaction was filtered through celite and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the title compound (1.6 g, 85%).
