A mixture of 6-(N-(3-chloro-4-nitrophenyl)methylsulfonamido)-5-cyclopropyl-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-N-methylbenzofuran-3-carboxamide (2 g, 3.58 mmol), and sodium thiomethoxide (0.685 g, 9.78 mmol) was dissolved in 20 mL of 1:1 CH3CN/Isopropanol and was stirred at room temperature for 3 h. Solvent was evaporated and water (60 mL) was added. The yellowish solid formed was filtered, washed with water to provide light yellowish solid which was used in the next step. (1.6 g, 86%) LCMS (m/z, ES+)=570 (M+H+).
