To a solution of tert-butyl 4-{[6-formyl-2-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidin-4-yl]oxy}piperidine-1-carboxylate (202 mg, 0.538 mmol) in methanol (2.0 mL) was added sodium tetrahydroborate (20.4 mg, 0.538 mmol). The reaction solution was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. The reaction was quenched with water and extracted with ethyl acetate (2×). The organic solutions were washed with brine, dried over Na2SC4, filtered and concentrated. The crude was purified with silica gel column to give the desired product. LCMS (M+H)+: 378.2.
