To a mixture of 2.0 g (6.9 mmol) of 4-[(4,5-dichloro-1,3-thiazol-2-yl)oxy]-2,5-dimethylaniline in 2.5 ml toluene a solution of 9.7 mmol of N-(dimethoxymethyl)-N-methylethanamine (60% in methanol) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 16 hrs at 105° C. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo. Column chromatographie (gradient: cyclohexane->ethyl acetate) yielded 2.4 g (6.7 mmol) 97% of N′-{4-[(4,5-dichloro-1,3-thiazol-2-yl)oxy]-2,5-dimethylphenyl}-N-ethyl-N-methylimidoformamide; log P (pH 2.3)=2.04
