69% Nitric acid (16 mL, 249 mmol) was added to a liquid mixture of (E)-2-(benzyloxy)-1-(3-methoxypropoxy)-4-(2-nitrovinyl)benzene described in Production Example 32-3 (22.6 g, 65.9 mmol) in acetic acid (150 mL) at room temperature. The liquid mixture was stirred at mom temperature for 6 hours. The reaction liquid was transferred into an ice bath, then the precipitate was collected by filteration and washed with water to quantitatively obtain the title compound.
