To a solution of diethyl 3,3-bis(3-bromophenyl)azetidin-1-ylphosphonate (960 mg, 1.9 mmol) in anhydrous dichloromethane (5 mL) under N2 was added TFA (5 mL). The mixture was stirred at 20° C. for 3 h, then concentrated by rotary evaporation. The residue was dissolved in dichloromethane (20 mL) and washed with aq. NaHCO3 (30 mL). The organic layer was dried and concentrated to afford 595 mg of the title compound (1.6 mmol, 85%) as a yellow oil which was used directly to next step without purification. LC/MS: [M+1]=368.
