Procedure
A solution of D8 (1.1 g, 2.9 mmol) and hydrochloric acid/isopropanol (6N, 20 ml) in methanol (100 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 18 h. After this period, the reaction mixture was evaporated in vacuo, the residue re-dissolved in methanol and the solution made alkaline with methanolic ammonia. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the residue purified by column chromatography (silica gel; 5%-15% methanolic ammonia in dichloromethane) to give D9 (70 mg, 9%). C10H12ClF3N4 requires 280; Found 281 (MH+).
