Reaction Steps
To a solution of EXAMPLE 174A (3.15 g) in t-butanol (200 mL) and tetrahydrofuran (50 mL) was added 2-methyl-2-butene (8 mL). The mixture was allowed to stir in an ice bath. NaClO2 (1.2 g) and NaH2PO4 (3 g) were dissolved into water (75 mL), and the solution was added to the mixture. The mixture was allowed to stir in an ice bath for 15 minutes, and then stirred at room temperature for 12 hours. NH4Cl was added, the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate, and the organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated to dryness to provide the title compound.
