Reaction Steps

To a stirred solution of 4-(3-pyridyl)-2-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-pyrrole (155 mg, 0.5 mmol, Example 76a) in dry DMF or THF (1.5 ml) NaH dispersion (48 mg, 2 equiv.) and p-methoxyphenylsulfonyl chloride (103 mg, 0.5 mmol) is added under a stream of nitrogen at 4° C. The reaction mixture is subsequently stirred for 12-18 h at room temperature and extracted with saturated aqueous NaHCO3 solution and ethyl acetate. The organic layer is dried and purified by flash chromatography and preparative HPLC. RT (program 1) 3.79. MS: 480.7.
