Reaction Steps

To a 0° C. mixture of (2S)-3-(t-butoxycarbonylamino)-2-hydroxypropyl triisopropylsilyl ether (6 g, 17.2 mmol) and THF (35 mL) was added NaH (60% dispersion in oil, hexane washed). The reaction was stirred for 1 h, 3,4-dimethoxy-benzyl bromide (4.3 g, 18.9 mmol) in THF (20 mL) was added, and then stirred at ambient temperature for 18 h. The mixture was concentrated and chromatographed on SiO2 (gradient CH2Cl2 to EtOAc) to give the title compound (1.1 g, 12.8%).
