Procedure

Under the conditions as described in Example 1(a), 10 g. of the ethyl ester of 3-bromo-2-oxocyclohexanecarboxylic acid is reacted with 3-trifluoromethylaniline to obtain the ethyl ester of 7-trifluoromethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazole-1-carboxylic acid.
