Procedure
Ni—Al alloy (0.098 g.) was added portionwise during 1 min. to stirring mixture of heptyl-carbamic acid quinolia-6-yl ester (0.145 g.), 10% potassium hydroxide in water (3.54 ml) and ethanol (10 ml) at 0-4° C. The reaction mixture was continued to stir for additional 2.5 hours while the temperature of the reaction mixture was maintained at 50° C. The reaction mixture was filtered, Ni—Al alloy was discarded through filtration, and the filtrate was concentrated under vaccum. The residue so obtained was crystallized with methanol (or acetone) to give 2b; yield: 0.10 g. (67.7%).
