A solution of 50 mg (0.059 mmol) of methyl (8S,11S,14S)-17-(benzyloxy)-14-{[(benzyloxy)carbonyl]amino}-11-(3-{[(benzyloxy)carbonyl]amino}propyl)-5-fluoro-9-methyl-10,13-dioxo-9,12-di-azatricyclo[14.3.1.12,6]henicosa-1(20),2(21),3,5,16,18-hexaene-8-carboxylate (Example 23O) in ethanol is hydrogenated after the addition of 5 mg of palladium on activated carbon (10%) under atmospheric pressure at RT for 12 h. The mixture is filtered through kieselguhr, and the residue is washed with ethanol. The filtrate is evaporated to dryness in vacuo.
