300 mg (0.812 mmol) of 4-(4-bromo-2-methoxyphenyl)-2-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-trifluoromethyl-pentanal is stirred in 1.5 ml of glacial acetic acid with 120.4 mg (0.812 mmol) of 4-amino-1,3-dihydroindol-2-one over a weekend at room temperature. The reaction mixture is evaporated until a dry state is reached, and the residue is put on a Flashmaster column. 235.9 mg (58.1%) of the desired imine is isolated.
