Reaction Steps

Analogously to Example 2, the corresponding imine is produced starting from 280 mg of 4-(2-methoxy-4-methylphenyl)-2-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-(trifluoromethyl)pentanal and 156 mg of 5-aminoquinolin-2(1H)-one. The latter is stirred at room temperature with 93 mg of aluminum chloride for 2.5 hours. The batch is added to saturated bicarbonate solution and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase is washed with water and brine, dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated by evaporation in a vacuum. After chromatography on silica gel (dichloromethane/2-propanol 0->5%), 24 mg of the title compound is obtained.
