Procedure

To a solution of (R)-2,2,2-trifluoro-N-(6-(hydroxymethyl)-7-nitro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-1-yl)acetamide (350 mg, 1.1 mmol) in 100 mL of DCM was added portion wise MnO2 (957 mg, 11 mmol). After stirring at RT for 3 h, the reaction mixture was filtered though silica gel with the help of hexane/EtOAc=1:1 to give ((R)-2,2,2-trifluoro-N-(6-formyl-7-nitro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-1-yl)acetamide as a white solid.
