Procedure
A mixture of 2.77 g. of 6-methyl-7-(α,α,α-trifluoro-m-tolyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine, 100 ml. of chloroform and 1.68 g. of N-chlorobenzotriazole is refluxed for 20 minutes, allowed to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes and then poured into 1 N sodium hydroxide in an ice bath. The product is separated, dried over sodium sulfate and treated as described in Example 1, giving the desired product, m.p. 195°-197° C.
